French Apple Pie

This is a traditional French Apple Pie recipe.

Equipment

  • Tart pan

Ingredients
  

Crust

  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp almond powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • vanilla extract

Apple Sauce

  • 3 apples
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • vanilla extract or cinnamon

Topping

  • 6 apples

Instructions
 

Prepare the crust

  • Combine the butter, powdered sugar, almond powder, vanilla extract and salt.
  • Add the egg and mix.
  • Add the flour and mix.
  • Roll the crust and let it rest for one hour in the fridge.

Prepare the apple sauce

  • Peel the apples and cut them into quarters.
  • Place the apples in a saucepan on medium heat for 20 minutes.
  • Mix the apples.
  • Increase to high heat and stir continuously for few minutes.
  • Let it cool down entirely.

Prepare the pie

  • Preheat the oven at 350ºF.
  • Roll the crust and blind bake for 15 minutes.
  • Spread the apple sauce on the crust.
  • Place the sliced apples.
  • Bake for 1h15.
